Meet Your SLP

Hi, I’m Kai, a pediatric speech-language pathologist, toddler mom, Charlotte native, and the founder of McQueen Speech Collective. Before anything else, I understand what it feels like to want the best support for your child, while also wanting to feel informed, involved, and confident in the process.

Why I Created MSC

After working in schools and more traditional therapy settings, I kept seeing the same pattern:

Families felt disconnected from the process. Sessions felt too short to create meaningful change. Parents were often left wondering what to do outside of therapy. McQueen Speech Collective was created to offer a more intentional, relationship-based approach where families feel supported, children feel understood, and progress is built through consistency and collaboration, not just once-a-week sessions.

How I Approach Therapy

My approach is grounded in connection first. I focus on building trust with each child, follow their lead, and create opportunities for communication through play, routines, and real-life interaction. At the same time, I bring structure and strategy into every session so we’re not just “playing,” we’re building skills with purpose. As a caregiver, you’ll be a part of the process, learning how to support your child in ways that feel natural in your everyday life.

A Bit More About Me

I was raised in the Charlotte area and it’s meaningful to now serve families in the same community. Outside of my work, I’m a wife and a toddler mom. Motherhood has deepened the way I think about development, communication, and what support really looks like in day-to-day life. I understand both the clinical side and the real-life side, and that balance is something I bring into every family I work with.
